Ciara Langtry

Human Performance Coach & Sport Psychologist

Ciara is a Human Performance Coach and Sport Psychologist working towards her final accreditation from the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Science (CASES). Ciara specialises in adolescent brain development and works primarily with youth athletes across multiple sports. In her current role as the Human Performance Coach at Brentford FC Academy, Ciara works across multiple age groups where building relationships is at the core of her work.

Ciara’s approach is underpinned by Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused Therapy. This approach acknowledges and holds room for the problem athletes are facing while drawing on strengths and resources to support their wellbeing and performance. Polyvagal Theory plays a significant role in Ciara’s work; it illustrates the role the nervous system plays when regulating behaviours and emotions in response to the environment. In other words, the body perceives certain levels of threat or safety and this affects an athlete’s ability to remain calm to think clearly and perform to their highest standard. Through this approach, Ciara works with clients on an individual and group basis, delivering key fundamental topics:

  1. Education on Zones of Regulation

  2. Practical application - how does this look on-field

  3. Tools to support nervous system regulation both on and off-field
